Crafts with Candy: One-Sided Candy Arrangement
Note: This craft project is only for your personal use. It is copyrighted.
To make this candy bouquet you will need: silk floral material (roses, small flowers, and foliage), candy (Lindt white chocolate truffles and “Very Berry” assortment of hard candy), a container, floral foam, plastic Easter grass, stem wire (16 ga) or bamboo skewers, stem wrap tape, sticky clay, narrow yellow ribbon, yellow construction paper or foam sheet, glue, clear nail polish, and tools (scissors, wire cutters, pliers).
b) Cover the foam with plastic grass, green furry yarn or some other material securing it with floral pins, as necessary. In this arrangement I used plastic Easter grass.
Step 2. Decide how tall you want your arrangement to be. Prepare three stem wires or bamboo skewers of the appropriate length. Gather the candies you want to use in the arrangement (I used hard blueberry flavored candy from a “Very Berry” assortment pack of hard candy) and stem wrap tape ready. We will tape the candies to the stem wires or bamboo skewers using the stem wrap tape.
Now, we have three beautiful candy flowers.
Step 3. Put these three candy flowers in the back of the bouquet establishing the height of the arrangement. We start our bouquet at the back and work forward.
Step 4. Put some greenery on each side of the arrangement to establish its width. We have made a frame of our arrangement.
Step 5. Put in three silk roses to form a triangle. Measure how short you want to cut the stems and then cut the stems shorter in stages to ensure that you do not cut them too short. Flare the leaves and petals of the roses for a more natural appearance.
Step 6. The next step is to insert the secondary flowers into the arrangement. We will make three daisies using three Lindt white chocolate truffles, narrow yellow ribbon, yellow construction paper or foam sheet, 16 ga stem wire or bamboo skewers, stem wrap tape, glue, clear nail polish, wire cutters, and scissors.
a) Draw three circles of about 1.5” in diameter on a piece of yellow construction paper or yellow sheet foam. Cut them out using scissors. Cut small holes (1/5” or 4-5 mm in diameter) in the middle of these circles.
b) Cut the narrow yellow ribbon into 10-12 pieces of 1.5” long. These will form the petals of the flowers. Apply just a little bit of clear nail polish along the edges of the ribbon pieces to prevent fraying.
c) Glue these petals to the back of the yellow circle. Do not cover the hole in the middle of the circle. Let this part dry completely before moving to the next step.
d) Take one Lindt white chocolate truffle, one stem wire or bamboo skewer and some stem wrap tape. Join the chocolate candy to the end of the stem wire using the stem wrap tape.
e) Insert the stem with the chocolate candy through the hole in the flower bud we made earlier. We now have a beautiful daisy!
f) Make two more daisies and insert all three of them in the bouquet.
Step 7. Insert filler materials to fill in any bare areas of the triangle. The type and quantity of filler materials is up to you.
b) Put in small flowers (I chose white and purple ones).
Note: Instead of small silk flowers you can make more “candy flowers” using Life Savers (white and purple) and put them in the arrangement. The recipient will be happy to receive even more candy.
Step 8. The back view of the arrangement. I would like to remind you that this is a one-sided arrangement, only one side is supposed to face the room.
