Mother's Day Presents: Cute Homemade Candy Bouquet gift

Materials you will need to make this Mother's Day gift: a container, Ghirardelli chocolate squares, Mother's Day gift tags (free printables included), 1/2" pink and gold satin ribbon, Styrofoam or green floral foam, scrapbooking or tissue paper, a glue stick, wooden skewers, clear packing tape, and tools (scissors and wire cutters).

Mother's Day presents - DIY candy bouquet gift

  1. Decide on the container you will make your Mother’s Day candy bouquet in.

You can use a themed Mom mug, a decorative metal pail, a glass, or even a tin can if you want to save money.

A 4"-deep and 3"-diameter glass was used in this example.

Choose a container for your candy bouquet

  2. Wrap your container in scrapbooking paper or tissue paper.

If you use a themed mug or decorative pail, skip this step.

If you use a clear glass or tin can, wrap it with scrapbooking paper or tissue paper. The paper should match the color of Ghirardelli candy bar wrappers.

I used raspberry scrapbooking paper with a design for this Mother’s Day candy bouquet present.

  3. Cut foam to fit tightly into the container.

Place foam into the container so that top of foam is a little bit below top of the container.

    Insert floral foam in container

  4. Secure Ghirardelli chocolate squares to wooden skewers.

I chose Ghirardelli chocolate pieces for this Mother's Day candy bouquet gift for two reasons: they are tasty, and their wrappers are very beautiful. Centerpieces with Ghirardelli chocolate squares always look festive and 'rich'.

Using a piece of clear packing tape, secure a wooden skewer to the back of each Ghirardelli chocolate bar.

  5. Tie small bows around Ghirardelli candy flower stems.

Prepare narrow themed Mother's Day ribbon or raspberry and gold satin ribbon. Cut it into 15-16" pieces. Tie a bow at the base of each Ghirardelli 'chocolate flower'.

Note: You can use curling ribbon instead.

  6. Prepare Mother’s Day gift tags.

I made simple gift tags for this candy centerpiece. Download free Mother's Day gift tags. Print these tags on white cardstock.

Secure a tag onto a skewer or lollipop stick using clear packing tape. You have a nice 'Mother's Day gift tag flower'.

  7. Put bouquet together.

Start inserting candy flowers in the container. I usually put them in the front first. Then I work on the back of the bouquet so that it looks good from all sides.
