Fun foods for kids: "A Hedgehog" Garnish
To make this food garnishing project, you will need: 1/2 portion of mashed potatoes, 1/2 portion of fries, 1 pickle, 2 cranberries or raisins, 1 black olive, leek, 4-5 mushrooms, 3 cherry tomatoes, 1 piece of parsley, and green onion. Step 1. Put mashed potatoes on a plate. Using a spoon or a spatula, shape mashed potatoes as a hedgehog’s body. Step 2. Insert fries into mashed potatoes as shown in the picture. They will be used for the "hedgehog’s prickles." Step 3. Cut two slices of a pickle. They will be used for the "hedgehog’s ears." Step 4. Place a black olive to the narrow part of the "hedgehog’s body." This will be used for the "hedgehog’s nose." Place two cranberries or raisins, "the hedgehog’s eyes." Step 5. Cut 4 thin slices of leek. Step 6. Put these leek slices on the plate next to the "hedgehog." Put mushrooms (raw or fried) on top of the leek. Step 7. Take tomatoes and make a small hole in them with a toothpick. Insert pieces of parsley into these holes. Now you have "apples." Place them next to the leek. Your food garnish "Hedgehog" is ready. Your kids will love it! Note: This garnishing project is only for your personal use. It is copyrighted. Photo and directions courtesy of Irina Stepanova "Delicious Garnishing Ideas"
